About the Book:

Welcome to Normal, Kentucky~ where nothing is normal.

Mae West knows tourism and nothing stops tourists like a dead body found in the Daniel Boone National Park.

Unfortunately, Yaley Woodard, a local tour guide, is found dead at Happy Trails Campground. Mae is determined to put her amateur sleuth skills to investigate along with the help of the Laundry Club gals.

But when Yaley's past ends up being tied to forest trails and local Joel Grassel, Mae realizes Yaley's death has caused much more turmoil than she'd originally thought - and the killer might want to close the tourism in the Daniel Boone National Park for good.

My Review:

When the body of a missing local is found in the dumpster on the property of the Happy Trail Campground, Mae knows she has to figure out the who's and why's of the death. One sure fire way to get reservations cancelled in her campground is to the be hub of a murder. Murder never goes well with tourism.

Tents, Trailers, and Turmoil is only the second book in the Camper & Criminals series by Tonya Kappes I've had a chance to read. I really enjoy the characters and the setting of the series. The interactions between Mae and her campground tenants and the other residents of Normal are fun and realistic.

The mystery was exciting, intriguing, and kept me guessing. Author Tonya Kappes did a wonderful job introducing a number of potential suspects. There were twists and turns that had me going in one direction only to have the mystery shift. The author did a great job building up the suspense until the reveal of the murderer and motive. As Mae and the Laundry Club unravel the murder, shocking events are revealed, suspects are added, as well as removed, from the list, and danger abounds.

I love how the author developed the characters and created such a fun and entertaining world. If felt like I was in Normal, Kentucky with the characters, helping Mae and the Laundry Club figure out who killed the victim and why. I was engaged in the story from the very beginning and loved the adventures as Mae and company “helped” the police figure out the murderer and the motive. You can be sure that I’ll be backtracking to the beginning of the series.

I was provided a copy of this book to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
