#ContemporaryRomance #Book #Review ~ Breaking All the Rules by Amy Andrews ~ @EntanbledPub @AmyAndrewsbooks

Sometimes you gotta toss your whole life into a burning dumpster to find what’s most important...

Book Details:

Publisher: ‎ Entangled: Amara
Publish Date: January 24, 2023
Paperback: ‎ 368 pages
ISBN-10: ‎ 1682815633
ISBN-13: ‎ 978-1682815632

About the Book:

Beatrice Archer has always done everything she’s supposed to —worked her ass off, ignored her non-existent personal life, and kept her mouth shut. Now she’s over it. The rat race, respectability…the underwire bras. She’s taking her life back. Starting with moving to Nowhere, Colorado to live life on her own terms.

Now Bea gives exactly zero forks. Beer for breakfast. Sugar for everything else. Baggy sweats and soft cotton undies FTW. Then a much younger and delightfully attractive cop is called to deal with her flagrant disregard for appropriate clothing outside the local diner (some folks just don’t appreciate bunny slippers) and Bea realizes there’s something missing from her little decathlon of decadence…and he might be the guy to help her out.

When it comes to breaking rules, Officer Austin Cooper is surprisingly eager to assist. He’s charming, a little bit cowboy, and a whole lot sexy. But Bea’s about to discover that breaking the rules has consequences. And all of the cherry pies in Colorado can’t save her from what’s coming…

My Review:

When Beatrice Archer's life gets upended by a misogynistic boss, she uproots her life in LA and moves to a small town in Colorado. There, she becomes the exact opposite of her corporate persona and what her father and grandmother expect from her. Bea lets her guard down and shows her new neighbors, and the townsfolk of Credence, a side of her that no one has ever seen. In fact, it's a side of Bea she's never actually seen, herself. As a newcomer, she's under a microscope of scrutiny, as her pajamas and bunny slippers can attest to, from the folks in this close-knit town. The citizens even go so far as to call the cops on her and Officer Sexy...I mean...Officer Austin Cooper may just be exactly what she needs.

I absolutely loved this book. There is laughter, fun, sexiness, and some steam between the pages. Lovers of everything romance will enjoy the heck out of Breaking All the Rules. The characters are wonderful. I loved how Bea left LA for Colorado and took her life back. A bit unconventional, but it worked for her. Her romantic interest may be a bit younger (something Bea had a hard time rectifying within herself for some reason) but they meshed quite well. I'm married to a younger man, and let me tell you, I enjoy him a whole lot more than the men I dated/married who were older than me ;). Besides, age is just a number after you reach a certain age of adulthood.

I highly recommend Breaking All the Rules and I'm glad I was provided a paperback copy. I will display this book proudly among my cozies, paranormal/urban fantasies, and other contemporary romances. Thank you Entangled Publishing!

#Review ~ Deluge by Mike Dubisch and Carolyn Watson-Dubisch - YA Graphic Novel (December 11-15, 2023) @CarolynWDubisch

Sapphyria's Book Promotions presents the 1-Week Virtual Book Tour for Deluge by Mike Dubisch and Carolyn Watson-Dubisch - YA Graphic Novel (December 11-15, 2023)

Sapphyria's review is coming tomorrow!

About Deluge:

About the Book:

12 year old Laura was just a normal girl from Seattle when her mother decided to move to a mysterious town in the midwest. The moment they arrive in their new home hundreds of frogs rain from the sky. Her quirky new neighbor has a house full of knick knacks and odd tiny creatures beckoning from the shadows, and there's a terrible curse on the town that makes every summer storm a life threatening event. Welcome to the town of Deluge.

My Review:

Deluge is a wonderful graphic novel. Laura and her mother move from the West Coast to the Midwest, leaving behind everything Laura has ever known. Upon arrival in Deluge, frogs start raining from the sky, there is talk of rain that burns the citizens, and a curse. Laura discovers other oddities about the town, its inhabitants, and is history. Just as Laura starts to investigate the many mysteries of Deluge, the book ends.

I was excited to meet Laura and learn about her new neighborhood. The artistry is phenomenal and loved the designs and color palette used to bring this graphic novel to life. The story can be a bit hard to follow if you don't read the text bubbles in the correct order but once you get the hang of it, the story flows. Frogs, acid-like rain, curses, and more fill this fun and quick read. There are a lot of unique features about the book and I can't wait to see what happens in book two.

I was provided a copy of this book.

#Review ~ It Hurts Every Time by L.P. Mills - SciFi, Speculative Fiction, Political, Multiverse, Mystery @liampmills10 @MirrorWorldPub #SciFi #Mystery

Mirror World Publishing and Sapphyria's Book Promotions present the 1-week virtual book tour for

It Hurts Every Time by L.P. Mills

About It Hurts Every Time:

“Death is not the end, sir,

No, sir, not the end of the line,

Just remember what I say to you;

It hurts, baby,

It hurts every time.”

Pluto Garcia is a lieutenant in the Community Militia of Morrisette, a post-communist city-state where a miracle drug has advanced enough to allow the dying a second chance at life by launching them into the nearest available universe in which they are still alive.

In his latest incarnation, Pluto is tasked with investigating the death of Krishna Klein, a brilliant but troubled philanthropist who has been found with a bullet in his head following a week-long bender. With the aid of his assigned partner, Esther Dupont, Pluto uncovers a techno-fascistic plot to plunge the flawed Utopia of Morrissette into authoritarian control once and for all.

My Review:

It Hurts Every Time is a exceptionally written scifi novel. I loved the idea of reincarnation in a new universe upon pending death of a character. The pharmaceutical advancement of a drug capable of saving a dying person by launching them into an alternate universe is interesting. The author did a wonderful job plotting this story and fleshing out his multiverse concept. The added mystery and political implications Pluto unravels bring even more excitement to this book.

I enjoyed the author's writing style and creativity. The character development was done well, as was the world-building. I found myself immersed in the story, attempting to solve the murder mystery and reasons behind the assassination. It Hurts Every Time is a great speculative fiction story with great writing, characters, and settings.

I was provided a copy of this book.

#Review ~ Claus and Effect by Piper Rayne ~ @PiperRayneRocks #HolidayRomance #Romance @valentine_pr_

Claus and Effect by Piper Rayne is now live!

Two strangers who couldn’t be more opposite find themselves on an unexpected cross-country road trip days before Christmas where whatever can go wrong, does.

He’s an Army Ranger.

She’s a baker.

He’s organized and rigid.

She’s messy and carefree.

He doesn’t do relationships.

She’s following her heart.

His family chat blows up his phone.

She just buried her last living relative.

The holiday season doesn’t seem so jolly as they venture from one mode of transportation to the next. But, they have to become friends and rely on each other if they’re going to survive all the obstacles thrown their way.

As the miles grow shorter, vulnerabilities are shared, and by the time they reach their destination, neither one of them is sure what they really want for Christmas anymore.

My Review:

Military and down-on-her-luck collide during a trip across the country.

Claus and Effect takes the reader on a wild ride across the country involving two strangers on a plane, in a car, and via train. Tessa is chasing love across the country and Tre is going home after being on active duty. Enter one disaster after another as both try to go from the east coast to the west coast. Forced together due to several unfortunate events, this couple of opposites find themselves traveling together to get to their destinations before Christmas.

This book is a stand-alone novel but ties back to Single and Ready to Jingle. We get to see the two main characters from SaRtJ, one of whom just happens to be Tessa’s bestie, but the interaction is light.

I love the opposites attract trope. Tessa and Tre were clearly not right for each other upon first meeting. Everything about them screamed oil and water. However, that’s the beauty of this story. Tessa and Tre were in a forced proximity scenario, without a lot of input from people they knew (which we all know can be good sometimes, but also causes a lot of problems), allowing them to really open up to one another (eventually). When they are forced to share modes of transportation, they find they are more compatible than they first though.

Tessa and Tre are fun to get to know. Coming from different familiar structures, I wasn’t sure how things would pan out, but the authors did a wonderful job creating, developing, and drawing them out. While the timespan of the story is short, they both grow and develop throughout the pages, and I love seeing them together. The chemistry between them is off the charts.
