My Review:

Sometimes you find love in the strangest of places and in the most awkward of situations.  That is basically the story of Annabelle and Jim.  Annabelle owns a bookstore in a small Montana town.  She wants a little change of pace so she drives 50 miles away to join a wine club.  She meets Jim, the owner of the wine store.  After a series of unfortunate events, Annabelle sneaks out of the wine club meeting not expecting to see or hear from Jim again.  After he shows up at her book store, a sweet romance blossoms.

Sweet Wine is a contemporary romance short story that will leave you smiling.   I was completed engaged by the story. The characters are realistic, believable, and quirky.  The story is sweet and the chemistry between Annabelle and Jim pops off the page from the moment they meet.  Love at first sight completely works in Sweet Wine. 

I love the writing style of Danica Winters and am a longtime fan.  I highly recommend all of her work.  She writes wonderful paranormal series' , romantic suspense novels, and so much more.  Her ventures into several book genres works great for those of us who prefer an eclectic array of books to choose from.

My Review:

Seducing Cinderella was such a fun book. The older brother’s best friend trope was written well. I enjoyed meeting Lucie and Reid. What started off as a way for Lucie to catch another man’s eye, quickly becomes Reid’s next big challenge: Keep her eyes off the other guy and only on him.

Lucie and Reid are great together. Their chemistry is off the charts. I loved watching him pull Lucie out of her own head. Reid helped boost her confidence. He provided tips and tricks for Lucie to use to charm those around her.

Lucie’s friend Vanessa was a wonderful addition. She was the perfect friend for Lucie. Nessie protected Lucie, stood up for her, and knew Lucie’s worth and tried to get her to see it, as well.

I loved this story.

My Review:

The Drawback of Single Dads is the fourth book in the Lake Starlight series. The focus of this book is Palmer and Hudson, best friends who also got a bit wild and procreated. This friends-to-lovers romance was executed perfectly. Palmer and Hudson are wonderful characters. I loved meeting them, seeing them grow, and watching their romance unfold. The authors filled this book with tension, emotion, and passion.

The story was fantastic, the characters well-developed, and the world-building done spectacularly. I am a huge fan of Piper Rayne (they are pretty much on my "read anything I can get my hands on - without reading the blurb first" list). I was so engaged with Palmer and Hudson's story from the first paragraph. The writing, characters, setting, and story took my breath away. The Drawback of Single Dads and the entire Lake Starlight series are highly recommended.

Her one-night-stand  reappears in her life after six long and lonely years.

Merry Kissmas reunites two lovers who were never the same after their one-night-stand. During her semester abroad, Brynn connects with a stranger and she spends a glorious weekend with him. When she shows up to class the following Monday, Pierce is also in the same class as Brynn. To both of their surprises though, she's the student and he's the TA. 

Six years later they meet again by happenstance and it seems like fate has things all planned out. They are competing for the same job, which is uncomfortable and highly unlikely. Especially since Pierce is British, Brynn is from Oregon, and the job is in New York. What are the odds?! Then comes the vacation destination and Pierce's previously unknown ties to Brynn's family.

I really enjoyed this close proximity, second chance romance. Brynn and Pierce are terrific characters. They were perfect for each other from their first interaction. Brynn was understandably hurt by Pierce's actions six years ago, but Pierce has made it known that he wants to right the wrong and get her back. He blends perfectly into her family, who nudge Brynn into making really thinking about her happiness and if Pierce fits.

Merry Kissmas is cute, cozy, Christmasy, competitive, and a bit steamy! I could not put the book down, and enjoyed this holiday novel. Brynn and Pierce are fun to get to know. I love seeing Brynn loosen up while celebrating Christmas with her family and Pierce. The chemistry between Brynn and Pierce is off the charts and I loved watching their relationship blossom.

My Review:

Turning Up the Heat is a wonderful contemporary romance featuring Kelsey Rankin, a food writer, and Oskar Olson, internationally recognized chef. Oskar is living in Kelsey's hometown, and Kelsey moved out prior to his arrival, and landed in the city. When they finally meet when work brings her back home, spark fly and the chemistry between the two is undeniable. 

I loved everything about this book. The realism behind Kelsey and Oskar's long-distance relationship took me down memory lane. I met my husband 17 years ago (on MySpace) and we lived an hour-and-a-half away from each other. We worked different shifts (I worked 10am-7pm) and he worked 3rd shift (10pm-7am) so talking during the week was difficult. We emailed each other for a while before moving to phone calls/texts, and I didn't have a computer. In order to talk to him for the first couple weeks, I had to go the library (about a block from my townhouse) before work to check my emails. We decided to move to the exchanging phone numbers stage and that made things a little easier. I'd call him in the morning before I left for work, and he'd call me at night before he left for work and I went to bed. I love it when scenes in books coincide with an event that happed in my life. It draws me closer to the characters and I can definitely better relate to them. 

Elizabeth Hunter is one of my all-time favorite authors. Everything she writes is phenomenal. She has writing skills that draw the reader in from the very beginning. When I was originally approached to review the ARC of A Hidden Fire (Elemental Mysteries, Book One) in 2011, never did I expect as much literary power to come from within the pages of a brand-new author. Every single book I've read from Elizabeth Hunter since then carries that same power. I have been mesmerized by her books from the very beginning.

My Review:

Another Outer Banks Christmas is a sweet Contemporary Christian Romance novel. The story is heartwarming and a joy to read. The characters and setting are wonderful. I loved the interactions between Kerrie and Wade. 

Kerrie is part of a large family headed by missionary parents. They've been in Hatteras for a while now but then Kerrie's parent spring on her that they are scheduled to move overseas. Kerrie makes the decision to stay where on Hatteras, but it won't be easy. She has very little time to make living arrangement and come to terms with adulting away from the warmth and protection of her family.

Wade Hampton is a local firefighter and EMT on the island. When his grandfather springs an ultimatum on him - marry or be removed from the will - Wade faces a conundrum. He's been dancing around Kerrie for a months. Little did he know his grandfather is a scheming little matchmaker. The ultimatum was a mechanism to force Wade to get out of his own way and take a chance on asking Kerrie out.

The book pulled me in and kept me engaged from the start. I had a hard time putting it down. I loved how the book doesn't shy away from giving the male characters real emotions.

My Review:

The Paid Bridesmaid was a cute romcom about a women who brides pay to be their BFF. An interesting premise, for sure, I was pulled in from the very beginning. The author's writing style, characters, and setting kept me engaged. I loved the influencer destination wedding. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the heroine's career. Rachel's character is closed-off to romance for a couple reasons: her backstory, revealed later in the book, and her corporate rules. Her employees are not allowed to mess around with anyone from the bridal party. 

All that goes up in smoke when Rachel meets Camden, the best man at the wedding she's attending as the maid of honor. Too quick to ignore inconsistencies, Rachel has her work cut out for her as she maneuvers around Cam. She wants to protect Sadie and keep to their confidentiality clause, but Cam makes it difficult for her to remember why she needs to avoid him. Their chemistry quickly ignites and is undeniable from their very first meeting. 

I enjoyed everything about The Paid Bridesmaid. Fun, quirky characters, beautiful location, imperfect situations, and true-to-life conflicts. I can't wait to read more by this author.

My Review:

I devoured The Wicked Truth by Melissa Foster. Madigan and Tobias are spectacular characters separately and together. I was pulled into their romance from the second I read what the book was about.

I was completely engaged in Mads and Tobias's story. I loved Mads's spunk and sassiness and Tobias's grumpiness and his protector vibe. Their personalities intersected and I enjoyed how they interacted and the chemistry that popped off the book's pages. Mads and Tobias just fit together.

Melissa Foster wove a realistic and steamy romance in with drama, humor, and so much emotion. The emotions, chemistry, and steam explode around this couple. Melissa Foster has become my go-to for new/adult contemporary romance. I read everything I can get my hands on by this author.

My Review:

Because You Loved Me started off slow and I wasn't quite sure what to think. The heroine, Marion, had low-functioning anxiety. While others go through daily tasks smoothly and effortlessly, those with this type of anxiety shut down and have difficulty performing even easy, mundane tasks. I have high-functioning anxiety but I'm still affected by some of the same things as one does with low-functioning anxiety. Some of Marion's actions baffled me (not calling the police during specific events, among other things) and I found myself becoming detached. However, the story finally sunk its claws into and captivated me at about the 20% mark. 

I loved watching Marion blossom during her days at the holiday park. Scarlett took Marion in with open, unquestioning arms. She slowly encouraged Marion to engage in social settings that would normally send her running. In fact, Marion does that quite a few times. Marion is finally able to let people into her heart and make friends. This slow transformation makes it easier for Marion to talk to people, paving the way to her real reason for landing in Sherwood Forest. She lost her dad at a young age and wants to learn more about him and his family.

The setting and world-building were cleverly written and I (eventually) found myself immersed in Marion's tale. She gained a wonderful family in the secondary characters. I enjoyed the writing style of the author. The author wrote a very realistic book with plenty of emotion, passion, and realism. The characters were complex and fully developed. I enjoyed watching Marion grow and shed her childhood trauma. The trauma will never fully go away but her new life paves the way through the pain and opens her eyes to the life she deserves.

My Review:

Brady Banks is a notorious playboy but he just met his match in a one-night-stand. She has Brady feeling things he's never felt before. When she up and leaves without an exchange of names or numbers Brady is shocked - 1) how can she resist his charm? 2) who is she? 3) what are these feelings this woman stirred up? Six months later, Brady is still reeling and trying to figure out how he's going to find her. What he doesn't expect is for her to show up on his doorstep, introducing herself as the new nanny.

Violet, fresh off a breakup, finds herself in the bed of a one-night-stand. She does one of the hardest things at the end. She walks away - no name, no phone number, nothing. Sure, she still thinks about him and how he rocked her world, but he's a distant memory. Until she discovers he's her new high profile client, and she'll be taking care of his son. 

An awkward reunion is an understatement.

I loved the interactions between Brady and Violet. This book is emotionally rich with well-written characters. I loved everything about the story, the characters, the setting, and the romance. I love how the authors are able to create a story that flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged until the very end. The writing style and story took my breath away. I couldn't put the book down.

My Review:

The Problem with Second Chances is the first book in the Lake Starlight series. Focusing on Calista and Rylan, this new series jumps ahead with a fun combination of the Greene and Bailey families. Having grown up together, everyone expected their endgame. Only, they got a little lost on the way to their happily-ever-after.

The slow-burn second-chance romance was executed perfectly. Calista and Rylan are terrific characters and I loved watching them, seeing them grow, and watching their romance unfold.

This story was fantastic, the characters were well-developed, and the world building is spectacular. I am a huge fan of Piper Rayne and loved this book. I was engaged in the story from page one. The writing, the characters, the setting, and the story took my breath away. I couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend The Problem with Second Chances.
