My Review of the Book:

The Wild Card is the amazing second book in The Dugout series by Piper Rayne. I absolutely loved Callie and Foster's story. They both are magnificent characters. They are complex, emotional, and believable. The chemistry they share is off the charts, even though they try to deny their feelings.

One of my favorite tropes is the sibling's best friend romance. This story knocks that trope out of the park! The Wild Card is sweet and spicy, heartwarming and heartbreaking, and filled to the brim with romance and emotion. 

I loved everything about the story, the characters, the setting, and the romance. The authors created a realistic and romantic world. The story flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged. The writing style and story are amazing.

My Review of the Audiobook:

The narrators for this series are spot-on. I love how each voice perfectly portrayed their assigned character. I don't typically read in a specific "voice" in my head, but if I did, Sean Masters and Erin Mallon would be those "voices." I'm excited that I was able to read the book and listen to the audiobook (I don't typically have both formats but for this book I said "Why not?!"). I alternated between formats depending on where I was and what I was doing.

My Review:

The Hotshot is the first book in a new baseball romance series and I loved it! Leighton and Hayes are magnificent characters. They are complex, emotional, and completely believable. Their chemistry is off the charts. Leighton and Hayes have known each other forever and that's what they hoped to have at one point but circumstances led them down different paths. 

One of my favorite tropes is the brother's or sister's best friend romance. This story knocks that trope out of the park! The Hotshot is sweet and spicy, heartwarming and heartbreaking, and filled to the brim with romance and emotion. There is a lot of sadness, secrets that are revealed, and tense scenes as Leighton works on proving that she's the best fit as the guardian of her cousin's three children. 

I loved everything about the story, the characters, the setting, and the romance. The authors created a realistic and romantic world. The story flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged. The writing style and story are amazing.

The One I Left Behind by Piper Rayne

My Review:

The One I Left Behind is the first book in the Plain Daisy Ranch series. Ben Noughton left Nebraska to play football with the San Francisco Kingsmen. In doing so, he left behind the love of his life, never looking back. Now he's retired and coming back to Plain Daisy Ranch.

This story is a second-chance romance complete with a single mom and meddling townsfolk. I enjoyed Gillian's character. Her feelings were hurt all those years ago and the last she was looking forward to was Ben coming back to town. When they keep ending up in the same places at the same times, Gillian and Ben finally realize everyone in town is involved in getting them back together. 

When Ben and Gillian encounter each other for the first time, the sparks are still there. Their chemistry explodes like fireworks that never end. They truly are meant for each other. I just wish Gillian would have demanded more from Ben. He left to follow his dreams and Gillian was a casualty of his selfishness. She was left behind, brokenhearted, and the talk of the town. Gossip of her escalated when she had Clayton.

Clayton is a typical teenager. When Ben came back to town, Clayton didn't care who he was or his popularity. Clayton didn't immediately take to Ben. Clayton is completely devoted his mother, and doesn't want to see anything happen to Gillian. 

The One I Left Behind is a cute and fun second-chance romance. I enjoyed the story, setting, and characters. I can't wait for the next book.

My Review:

The Drawback of Single Dads is the fourth book in the Lake Starlight series. The focus of this book is Palmer and Hudson, best friends who also got a bit wild and procreated. This friends-to-lovers romance was executed perfectly. Palmer and Hudson are wonderful characters. I loved meeting them, seeing them grow, and watching their romance unfold. The authors filled this book with tension, emotion, and passion.

The story was fantastic, the characters well-developed, and the world-building done spectacularly. I am a huge fan of Piper Rayne (they are pretty much on my "read anything I can get my hands on - without reading the blurb first" list). I was so engaged with Palmer and Hudson's story from the first paragraph. The writing, characters, setting, and story took my breath away. The Drawback of Single Dads and the entire Lake Starlight series are highly recommended.

Mr. Broody is the second book in The Nest series by Piper Rayne. This story features Jade and Henry. They were connected at the hip from the age of seven until after college and Henry was drafted to Minnesota. Jade went her own way, leaving Chicago and only coming back home recently to help her mom and step-dad. The reconnection between Jade and Henry cause a tidal wave of repressed feelings to bubble over for both, but they have different lives now.

Jade and Henry are amazing! And don't get me started on Bodhi! He stole my heart from the very first time he's on the page. This book is so sweet, heartwarming, and emotional. There's steam, but also love. This book is emotionally rich not just between Jade and Henry, but anytime Bodhi graces the pages. Everyone loves him so much and his POV chapters are so cute! 

I loved everything about the story, the characters, the new setting, and the romance. I love how the authors created a story that flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged. The writing style and story took my breath away.

Something Like Lust is the second book in the new Chicago Grizzlies series by Piper Rayne. I enjoyed Adeline and Damon's story. I'm glad to get to see Damon and Adeline's relationship evolve from one-night-stand to co-parents to friends to much, much more. The authors did an excellent job penning this book with emotion and realism.

I loved the interactions between Adeline and Damon. This book is emotionally rich with well-written characters. I loved everything about the story, the characters, the new setting, and the romance. I love how the authors created a story that flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged. The writing style and story took my breath away.

Her one-night-stand  reappears in her life after six long and lonely years.

Merry Kissmas reunites two lovers who were never the same after their one-night-stand. During her semester abroad, Brynn connects with a stranger and she spends a glorious weekend with him. When she shows up to class the following Monday, Pierce is also in the same class as Brynn. To both of their surprises though, she's the student and he's the TA. 

Six years later they meet again by happenstance and it seems like fate has things all planned out. They are competing for the same job, which is uncomfortable and highly unlikely. Especially since Pierce is British, Brynn is from Oregon, and the job is in New York. What are the odds?! Then comes the vacation destination and Pierce's previously unknown ties to Brynn's family.

I really enjoyed this close proximity, second chance romance. Brynn and Pierce are terrific characters. They were perfect for each other from their first interaction. Brynn was understandably hurt by Pierce's actions six years ago, but Pierce has made it known that he wants to right the wrong and get her back. He blends perfectly into her family, who nudge Brynn into making really thinking about her happiness and if Pierce fits.

Merry Kissmas is cute, cozy, Christmasy, competitive, and a bit steamy! I could not put the book down, and enjoyed this holiday novel. Brynn and Pierce are fun to get to know. I love seeing Brynn loosen up while celebrating Christmas with her family and Pierce. The chemistry between Brynn and Pierce is off the charts and I loved watching their relationship blossom.

Something Like Love is the third, and final, book in the Chicago Grizzlies series by Piper Rayne. I enjoyed Ellery and Cooper’s story. Best friends for a decade, Elle and Cooper find themselves at a crossroads. The authors did an excellent job penning this book with emotion and realism.

I loved the interactions between Elle and Cooper. This book is emotionally rich with well-written characters. I loved everything about the story, the characters, the setting, and the romance. I love how the authors created a story that flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged. The writing style and story took my breath away.

My Review:

Military and down-on-her-luck collide during a trip across the country.

Claus and Effect takes the reader on a wild ride across the country involving two strangers on a plane, in a car, and via train. Tessa is chasing love across the country and Tre is going home after being on active duty. Enter one disaster after another as both try to go from the east coast to the west coast. Forced together due to several unfortunate events, this couple of opposites find themselves traveling together to get to their destinations before Christmas.

This book is a stand-alone novel but ties back to Single and Ready to Jingle. We get to see the two main characters from SaRtJ, one of whom just happens to be Tessa’s bestie, but the interaction is light.

I love the opposites attract trope. Tessa and Tre were clearly not right for each other upon first meeting. Everything about them screamed oil and water. However, that’s the beauty of this story. Tessa and Tre were in a forced proximity scenario, without a lot of input from people they knew (which we all know can be good sometimes, but also causes a lot of problems), allowing them to really open up to one another (eventually). When they are forced to share modes of transportation, they find they are more compatible than they first though.

Tessa and Tre are fun to get to know. Coming from different familiar structures, I wasn’t sure how things would pan out, but the authors did a wonderful job creating, developing, and drawing them out. While the timespan of the story is short, they both grow and develop throughout the pages, and I love seeing them together. The chemistry between them is off the charts.

Chase Andrews is a private person, a grumpy football player, and also Twyla's new neighbor. After a heartbreaking broken engagement, Twyla seeks solace in leaving Connecticut and spending some time in California, where her brother Miles plays football for the Kingsmen. I love the grumpy sunshine and the brother's friend/teammate forbidden romance trope. The chemistry between Twyla and Chase is there but neither wants to act on it, drawing out their dance. Their proximity to one another aids in their coming together, and Zeus just clinches it with his cuteness.

I loved the interactions between Twyla and Chase. This book is emotionally rich with well-written characters. I loved everything about the story, the characters, the setting, and the romance. I love how the authors are able to create a story that flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged until the very end. The writing style and story took my breath away. I couldn't put the book down.
