Because the rule is: it’s one night only. Which is gonna be a problem because she’s just discovered he lives in the apartment upstairs.

And he’s joined her dad’s team. As the goalie coach. To train her ex.

Now Astrid is in some kind of hockey hell–filled with her ex, her family, and the best sex of her life. And somehow she’s been roped back onto the team.

My Review:

Walk of Shame is the second book in The Downside of Dating series.

Walk of Shame is a fun romantic comedy. I fell in love with both Astrid and Cal. They are fantastic characters individually but put them together and they are extraordinary. The chemistry and steam is off the charts. The snark, competitiveness, and genuine affection between the two mains was enjoyable to read. I loved watching Astrid and Cal's love story unfold.

Walk of Shame is a cute romance between two unsuspecting characters. One was burned by a hockey player and hardened her heart. The other was consumed by hockey. They thought their lives were great until he walked into her bar, then they realized was great really meant.

The book is perfectly paced, well-written, and the setting and world-building expertly crafted. I devoured Walk of Shame because once I started reading the book, I was hooked and couldn't put it down.

Avery Flynn is a one-click author for me. Every book is phenomenal. The themes, settings, and multitude of characters are unique, likable, and imperfectly perfect.

I want to.

I can’t.

I’ve been friends with Cooper Rice from the moment we met. He was just as famous a decade ago on our college campus as he is now being the star quarterback for the Chicago Grizzlies.

My Review:

Something Like Love is the third, and final, book in the Chicago Grizzlies series by Piper Rayne. I enjoyed Ellery and Cooper’s story. Best friends for a decade, Elle and Cooper find themselves at a crossroads. The authors did an excellent job penning this book with emotion and realism.

I loved the interactions between Elle and Cooper. This book is emotionally rich with well-written characters. I loved everything about the story, the characters, the setting, and the romance. I love how the authors created a story that flows well, pulls you in, and keeps you engaged. The writing style and story took my breath away.

Claus and Effect by Piper Rayne is now live!

Two strangers who couldn’t be more opposite find themselves on an unexpected cross-country road trip days before Christmas where whatever can go wrong, does.

My Review:

Military and down-on-her-luck collide during a trip across the country.

Claus and Effect takes the reader on a wild ride across the country involving two strangers on a plane, in a car, and via train. Tessa is chasing love across the country and Tre is going home after being on active duty. Enter one disaster after another as both try to go from the east coast to the west coast. Forced together due to several unfortunate events, this couple of opposites find themselves traveling together to get to their destinations before Christmas.

This book is a stand-alone novel but ties back to Single and Ready to Jingle. We get to see the two main characters from SaRtJ, one of whom just happens to be Tessa’s bestie, but the interaction is light.

I love the opposites attract trope. Tessa and Tre were clearly not right for each other upon first meeting. Everything about them screamed oil and water. However, that’s the beauty of this story. Tessa and Tre were in a forced proximity scenario, without a lot of input from people they knew (which we all know can be good sometimes, but also causes a lot of problems), allowing them to really open up to one another (eventually). When they are forced to share modes of transportation, they find they are more compatible than they first though.

Tessa and Tre are fun to get to know. Coming from different familiar structures, I wasn’t sure how things would pan out, but the authors did a wonderful job creating, developing, and drawing them out. While the timespan of the story is short, they both grow and develop throughout the pages, and I love seeing them together. The chemistry between them is off the charts.

Release Day Review ~ A Greene Family Christmas by Piper Rayne ~ @PiperRayneRocks @valentine_pr_

A Greene Family Christmas by Piper Rayne is now live!

Preparing a Christmas to remember is no small feat with a family the size of the Greenes.

Especially when the woman who has always been the planner down to every minute detail, falls ill only five days before the holiday. The family has no choice but to scramble to ensure that nothing is amiss. Cookies need to be decorated, gingerbread houses assembled and decorations to be hung. They’ll need all hands on deck, both young and old, to make this holiday happen. But of course, what would a Greene Christmas be if not chaotic with a dash of drama?

My Review:

Fast-forward 12 years, and we have the same Greene clan with some additional family members. I loved every inch of this book but it also made me a bit emotional. Hank and Marla are now the same age as my parents. Some of their kids are mine and my sister's ages. It was like reading about our families. I was happy to see where the Greene family is in 12 years but, like my last 12 years, the time just flew. I don't know that I was anymore ready for the Greene's in the future than I was to watch my parents age into their late 60's/early 70's, my step-daughter graduate, or my nephew start high school in the past couple of years.

Piper Rayne wrote a beautiful ending to the Greene series. I was engaged in the story from page one. The writing, the characters, the setting, and the story took my breath away. I couldn't put the book down and finished it in one sitting. I'm going to miss the focus on the Greene's but I know we aren't done yet. We still have one more Greene to watch get his happily-ever-after. I also know that I can revisit each Greene's story anytime I want.
