Book #Review & #Giveaway ~ The Demons of Chiyoda (Nora Simeon Investigations #3) by Laurence Raphael Brothers ~ @lbrothers @MirrorWorldPub

Nora Simeon hates demons.

Mirror World Publishing and Sapphyria's Book Promotions present the 1-week book tour for The Demons of Chiyoda (Nora Simeon Investigations #3) by Laurence Raphael Brothers.

About The Demons of Chiyoda:

Occult private eye, Nora Simeon, and Eyre, her uncannily pretty boyfriend, are on another case on behalf of the Commission, the secret organization that controls financial sorcery in the Americas. This time they're hunting down an investment-bank sorcerer who cracked when passed over for promotion and used a summoned demon to commit murder. Finding the murderer is easy, but he's already dead, assassinated in a locked room.

The case's ramifications quickly reach far beyond New York. From a murder scene in Queens, Nora and Eyre discover a tangled web of international corruption and sorcery linking crimes in Japan and the US. Traveling to Tokyo at the behest of the mysterious Onmyōdō Group, they run afoul of the even more deadly Ministry of Shadows. In the rural reaches of Fukushima province, Nora and Eyre discover a fateful secret that could shake the foundations of financial sorcery all around the world and come up against an old enemy whose malice poses a greater danger than any they've faced before.

My Review:

The Demons of Chiyoda is the third book in an epic paranormal/urban fantasy novel.

Read along as Nora and Eyre find themselves working on another case by the Commission. Tracking down an investment banker guilty of murder-by-demon proves to be harder than anticipated. When they finally discover his secret location, all they find is a corpse and his demon. Now they have to figure out who murdered the murderer but left his demon alone.

This case sends Nora and Eyre to Tokyo to investigate the tangled threads of global corruption. The mysterious Onmyōdō Group requests their presence but before Nora and Eyre meet with the group, several unsettling events occur that shake up Nora and Eyre. Financial sorcery as they know it may be forever changed after Nora and Eyre discover a secret and they are forced to confront an old enemy.

Full of surprising twists and turns, The Demons of Chiyoda kept me on my toes. The author does a fantastic job weaving a suspenseful story with a wonderful plot, interesting characters, and realistic world-building. I was drawn in from the beginning of the series and book 3 is a wonderful continuation of Nora and Eyre's story. The author's writing style and engaging plot kept me entertained as I devoured this novella.

I was provided a copy of this book to read.

My Review and Rating:

Tru BlueTru Blue by Melissa Foster
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved Truman and Gemma’s story in Tru Blue. Truman Gritt was convicted of and jailed for a crime he didn’t commit. In his mind, that’s what family does. They take care of each other and sometimes that means you take the fall to protect someone else. Now that he’s out, the hits keep coming. After his mother ODs, Truman picks up his young siblings from the squalor they were living in and brings them home to raise them, while simultaneously attempting to put his broken brother back together again. He’s not looking for help, but that’s exactly what he finds in Gemma Wright. Whether he wants it or not.

I was pulled into Tru and Gemma’s romance and engaged in their love story. I loved their personalities and how they just fit so well together. I loved them both, enjoyed their banter and strength, and enjoyed the path the author took to get them where they needed to be as a couple.

The secondary characters were supportive, protective, and fun group to meet and spend time with throughout the story. Their close-knit relationships, strong family bonds, and real-life characters make this book exceptional. Melissa Foster wove a realistic, steamy romance in with family drama and so much emotion. The emotions in this book explode on the pages.

#Book #Review ~ Hidden Cove by Linn Chapel ~ #Romance #SciFi #Contemporary #Gothic

Dreaming can be dangerous…

Until recently, Kiri Sullivan was employed as a technician at the innovative DreamReader laboratory. She even volunteered for the early trials herself.
But she never realized that a large enough sample of her dreaming brainwaves had been recorded to create one of the first-ever electronic profiles.
Unique as a fingerprint, it could be used to identify her while she’s dreaming.
And now it’s in the hands of a murderer. If Kiri’s dreams are scanned from afar and a match is made, then he’ll know exactly where she’s hiding.
Luckily, she’s found the perfect bolt-hole at Hidden Cove, a tiny inlet on the northeastern coast of Maine. After setting up camp, she settles down to wait out the danger.
But it’s not long before Kiri discovers that someone else is living at Hidden Cove.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Hidden Cove hints at a bit of scifi in a seemingly paranormal romance. Less gothic than I anticipated but enjoyable, just the same. The story is a fast-paced thriller set on the coast of Maine. After hearing information at her place of work that will put her life in danger, Kiri flees to the remote woods of Hidden Cove. Hoping to be protected against those who seek her, she hunkers down in a dense area near an abandoned cabin. Kiri soon finds she’s not alone.

I found Hidden Cove to be an interesting and enjoyable read.
